  • One Room Schoolhouse | Aspire Academy

4th-grade information One Room Schoolhouse (1st - 4th Grade ) 1st through 4th Grade - One Room Schoolhouse One Room Schoolhouse I’m so excited to welcome your kids and family into our classroom! We’ll be learning together, while each child follows their own weekly lesson plan. This works great for siblings as some of the lessons will be the same. One of the wonderful things about a multi-age class is how it naturally builds confidence, teamwork, and lowers stress. I loved this style of teaching with my own kids. Our class focuses on learning through play, bringing nature inside the classroom, exploring, experiments and hands-on activities. We’ll have dramatic play centers that change throughout the year, and arts and crafts will be part of many lessons. I love teaching this way because kids never get bored but while still having a daily routine. I truly believe kids need to play and move so we do several short lessons and several play short times every day. My hope is that every child looks forward to coming to class and develops a lifelong love of learning. Math - We use Abeka Math, a traditional, spiral curriculum that introduces concepts simply and builds on them each year, with plenty of review to help kids really understand. Aspire Academy uses this program, so it also makes transitions easier if needed. Most weeks, we’ll do lessons in class and workbook practice at home. I also include math games and activities to keep it fun and engaging. The link to order the right math book for your child will be provided. Language Arts and Reading - In class, we use Language Lessons for Today. These are short, interactive lessons covering oral and written composition, picture study, poetry memorization, copywork, dictation, literature, narration, and dictionary skills. This curriculum is great for me to use in a group for the entire class. We also use Masterbooks’ Language Lessons for a Living Education, which blends stories, poems, Scripture, copywork, narration, and hands-on activities to help kids build strong reading, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and handwriting skills. After researching many programs, this felt like the best fit for our class. The link to order will be provided. Reading Books will be chosen based on each child’s level and interests. We have a wide variety of genres, especially for older kids. I will encourage a variety or books this year for them to pick from to read. Upper levels will have assignments to build comprehension, while younger ones will focus on phonics and foundational reading skills. My goal is to help every child grow in confidence and develop a love of reading. We will also be reading chapter books in class I love this time and so do they. Their brains relax and they use their imagination as they listen to the story. All needed books and worksheets will be provided. History & Science - This is where the fun really begins! I use a variety of curriculums for history and science, we will be learning together. I loved teaching my own kids this way because it simplified things while making the learning creative and hands-on. Don’t worry—if your child takes this class again, the content will always be different. As there is so much we can cover. History won’t be boring here! We’ll become actors, artists, builders, and explorers. We’ll do cooking projects and hear amazing stories and biographies. We cover a wide range of topics—from Native Americans, explorers, and Pilgrims to American wars, government, holidays, national parks, geography, and more. Science is a favorite because kids are naturally curious and always asking “why?” Together, we’ll explore life science (plants, animals, the human body), earth and space science (weather, seasons, planets, natural disasters), and physical science (matter, energy, machines, motion). All history and science materials are included in the supply fee, and I’ll send home project ideas and worksheets for days you learn at home. Handwriting- Handwriting Without Tears this will be optional and done at home but can be included in your daily lessons for home days. Typically, kids complete one book per year. Links for ordering will be provided. I’m looking forward to another wonderful school year and can’t wait to get started! As always, feel free to reach out to me on the BAND app with any questions—I’m happy to chat and help however I can. I’m excited to work alongside your family to make this a fun and successful year! —Amy Mullet Class Offered Both Days Teacher:Amy Mullet To download the PDF Schedule of CORE & ELECTIVE CLASSES please click this link: Core Classes Elementary core classes are 2-day classes. • Homeschool Classes | Aspire Academy | Oklahoma

Aspire Academy is a blended model that offers weekly and biweekly academic and core elective Homeschool Classes for families that choose to school their children at home. IMG_1367 IMG_1383 52861880_2022465954468622_49716011639808 IMG_1367 1/19 Aspire Academy is... Core Academic Classes Offering core classes for K-12th that can be added to any school transcript. Core Elective Classes Offering a wide variety of Electives to fill all interests in an affordable way. Support for Families Our Tutors teach the curriculum & you do the work at home. We help fill the gaps in a meaningful way. Aspire Academy is Tulsa’s full-service homeschooling academic support campus. We are a not-for-profit (501c3) created to come alongside and meet the academic needs of homeschooling families by offering a’la’carte/drop off classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. We are not a government-funded/public school, private school, or part-time private school and as such, we are not accredited by any state or educational agency, nor do we desire to be. As an organization, we believe and support that your home is the child’s primary school and that by electing to home school, parents assume the role of primary teacher. Families have the constitutionally protected right to customize their student’s education based on individual interests, learning styles, learning disabilities, passions, specific needs and personality, and to incorporate the family’s personal values and beliefs into their daily teaching however they see fit. We do not view all children the same, expect all children to advance or master concepts at the same pace, or at the same age, or put students into a one size fits all box – this is the beauty and basic foundation of homeschooling. We understand and support that each family selects the subjects their child will learn, but also encourage college bound students to follow Oklahoma graduation guidelines and standards when selecting core classes and electives during their high school years if they desire to attend college. Our Academy Program is designed to encourage and support by blending the best aspects of homeschool with the social and engaging environment of an in-person classroom. Parents work together in partnership with our professional in-person tutors. We provide support for parents as they teach and reinforce the content for each subject at home. Our parents have a significant responsibility and accountability to ensure at-home work is completed and students comprehend what they’re learning on home days. Aspire Academy supplements the home education journey by offering a multitude of both academic and enrichment classes. Our academic classes provide students with instruction, labs, tests, and class work, as well as daily homework. Enrichment and elective classes provide a teaching atmosphere in class, but often do not require heavy homework assignments. Students may participate in one class or may enroll in several, depending on their current needs. In addition to our classes, many of our tutors offer one-on-one private tutoring that can be purchased directly through them.
