5th Hour Electives

* Sewing


Teacher: Ms. Sewbee Students will learn to use a sewing machine and all sewing tools/notions. Students will learn cutting patterns, pinning, sewing straight seams, and basic quilting while creating age appropriate projects. Students vote as a class on each project they will complete. Supply List: 2 spools of white thread, 1 small bag of stuffing, 1 seam ripper. Please label with students name. Supply Fee: $25




* Guitar I


Teacher: Sheldon Clark
This class will take the younger students from basic sight reading and notes to playing a song. Starting on the 1st string on week one, string 2 on week two....continuing this pattern until week six on the 6th string. Next we will learn chords and progressions leading up to full songs. The primary goal of this class is to teach each student proper playing through proper practice and the joy of music achieved by reaching smaller goals (wins) and ultimately bigger goals (playing a full song). Supplies: $15 Supply Fee per Semester




* Fundamentals of Martials Arts


Teacher: Partnered with Wolfe Pack TKD Wolfe Pack Taekwondo Students will learn a holistic form of Tae Kwon Do stressing the five fundamental tenets of Tae Kwon Do: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit taught in a supportive, positive environment. Our beginner classes target ages 6 to adult with little or no prior martial arts experience. Our advanced program is designed for students with a higher level of martial arts experience or those students who wish to work towards competitive sports martial arts such as fighting and board breaking. SPECIAL CLASS PRICING, extra fee of $160 per semester

Offered Monday and/or Wednesday We find that after Core classes these young kiddos just need some playtime with their friends! They need to be young and learn valuable lessons through experience. So we offer this time of refreshment, and fun!




* Ballet Dance


Teacher: Jessica Girourad No prior dance experience required. Dancers will start with the fundamentals of classical ballet including, but not limited too, fun exercises at the barre, the middle of the floor, and across the floor. Students will gain confidence, poise and focus from this class, as well as flexibility and strength. Supplies:

  • Ballet shoes
Dress code: Comfortable clothes that can be danced in, no jeans or baggy clothes please. A leotard, tights and skirt is recommended, but not required!




* Bible Class - Monday Only


Teacher: Amy Beller A Father's Care introduces Bible truths through familiar Bible characters presented chronologically in a study of Old and New Testaments. Dramatic segments, application stories that reveal God's character, various hands-on-activites, and visuals reinforce the child's learning experience and help your child learn to trust God and rely on Him. You will need to purchase this:




* Art Composition - Monday Only


Teacher: Penny S. Burt We will be covering the Elements of Composition. The first 8 classes will cover the 7 elements of composition: Line, Shape, Pattern, Texture, Balance, Gray Value and Color with two classes on color. The following classes will be media based, such as watercolor, pencils, pastels, etc. Artists through history will be introduced as they are relevant to the subject being covered. Supply fee: $25 per semester

Students will develop:

  • The ability to sing in 2-3 part harmony (possibly 4 part for 9th-12th)
  • Basic concepts of sight-singing

Students will learn:

  • Singing in different styles of music.
  • An introduction to show choir (5th-8th and 9th-12th)
  • The different voice types.
  • How to praise the Lord through song!

Teacher: Alex Hughes This class provides students with the opportunity to learn a variety of games, sports, and sport related movements as well as health and fitness education. Emphasis is placed on active participation and good sportsmanship during fitness and sport activities. Get ready for fun and exercise!

Core Classes

  • Elementary core classes are 2-day classes. Students will attend both Mondays & Wednesdays for each core class hour taken. A one day option is available, but parents will be expected to present the new information and material on the second day to ensure the student stays on track with the class schedule.

First Semester is Science

Once your child has learned to read, he can read to learn exciting facts about the world around him! He will love this fascinating book about the world he lives in. By understanding observable aspects of God’s creation, he will develop a greater reverence for the Master Designer who planned it all.

Second Semester is History

Abeka My America & My World

Tour America and travel around the world through the 103 pages of My America and My World. Your child will gain a greater interest in and love for America as he learns about its symbols, history, and places of interest. He will learn how the United States was founded and its principles of freedom. He will meet several famous American patriots and take a trip across America. Good citizenship is emphasized, and reading skills are developed. Major countries and U.S. territories are introduced.
